They are detuned until you buy a programmer and a custom tune.

If you disconnect the battery of the truck, it erases certain things based on your driving habits. One in particular is the transmission. So in a sense, the factory tune learns how you drive, but no "mods" like a tuner are made.

Disconnect your battery for 20 minutes, then follow the instructions in the manual for its re-learning.

I won't tell you true or false, but I will tell you the Dodge Challenger/Charger 5.7 Hemi's are detuned until 3750 miles to allow for engine break-in. So it's possible.

Hopefully a Ford mechanic will chime in.

Fiat (Dodge) then (apparently) does not know the best way to break-in a motor: "drive it like you're going to drive it". There's a lot of write ups on this subject.

Here's one (I've done this on several engines and am pleased with the results): http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

This article is focused on motorcycle engines, but the same principles apply for automotive engines as well.

Actually most manufacturers run "break in" not so much for the engine as it is for typically the catalyst system. The system has to properly gas out before it becomes operational correct and function as designed.

I'm not going to go to the dark side and discuss an alien concept from Daimler/Chrysler/Fiat or what ever the current owner is of this obviously failed company, they make garbage which is why it's changed hands multiple times in the past 3 decades.

What I will say however is the link you posted is right on target, I break in engines the same way and 0 issues. If more people would do a google search on cylinder glazing they would understand.
