Truth or false
Should have known you were an engineer, but your still full of it. Break in time is mainly to seat the piston rings to keep from glazing the cylinder walls and creating an oil burner. There are a few other systems that benefit like the trans and differentials to get the gearing seated etc.
30+ years of repairing engineering mistakes under my belt scooter.

Used to be that was what it was for correct. When I started in the 60s I would agree that most of the ferrous materials were designed to "wear in". Newer materials not so much but yes still require a "seal" period. Most power train components if I remember correctly had about a 750 to 1000 mile wear in. I commend you for staying with it 30 years. The biggest thing I have seen change just before I jumped out was the rate at which lubricants started to evolve. Scooter LOL - Whipper Snapper I will take me teeth out and shout
Rnlcomp is an old coot - LOL good day man.See you guys down there about the first week of Feb.
My father-in-law was a mechanical engineer. When he passed, it took me almost 10 years to fix all his "ideas" he did to their house.
Before I retired as an Ironworker, I spent a lot of foreman time arguing with engineers. And once they saw the errors of their fix ideas, I finally got the signatures to fix things right. Engineers are taught to think outside the box, to be different - through which comes the ultimate "best idea". But how many people have to get hurt or die, how much money has to be wasted because of some book-learned with a shiny new hardhat has a stamp? (I maintain that all engineers should be required to build something they design or guarantee BEFORE they get licensed)
And as far as an environmental engineer, well, don't get me going on THAT!
Rant mode: off

Dont get me started about you hippy liberals in the bay area. Keep electing pelosi and friends. The manual says to take it easy so I took it easy on the first few thousand.
So I'm off the hook all the way around
And as far as breaking in an engine the "progressive" way, one has to be a bit **** to do it correctly. Most people however, just want to fill 'er up with gas and drive. You certainly be like that if you want to do what's best for the engine.
Oh, and BTW "Angelino", QUIT TRYING TO STEAL OUR WATER!!!

Whew! I thought you were going to offend ME! Sure glad I'm neither of those. And, I don't vote. I give my support to a much better government (Daniel 2:44)

Going to go hose down my driveway, got to break my engine in on clean concrete.
Not yet, at least according to Cal. State law. And the push up here says you won't ever.
And THAT is precisely why. It's not a need with you people, it's the attitude. Which is why the tunnels project won't ever happen. I've heard that there's a group that wants to release water-bourne amoebas in the aqueduct just south of Bakersfield. That ought to be fun to drink...
Enjoy!

I park my truck on my lush green lawn and brush my teeth with the water running.
