Default Troubleshooting Abs C1300 code

Went camping last weekend and had to do some off roading to get to the spot. Next day had some lights on the dash, Abs light, parking brake light, and traction control light all on. Pulled codes and got C1300 which is the Abs hydraulic pump motor failure and a few other nuesance codes. Cleared the code and it came back the next time I started the truck.

On the trip home I stopped for gas, started the truck and lights were out, lights stayed off the whole 4.5 hour trip home. Monday lights were back on. They have gone off then 1 minute later come back on a total of 2 times now. I'm thinking I might have pulled something loose during my trip.

I have the full factory service manual for my truck and won't be able to start looking into it till Saturday. I have the pin out tests and plan to start there, however I was reading the tests and it asks if the pump motor is running constantly. Where is the motor located? I don't hear anything out of the normal. Does anyone have any experience with this code or working on the Abs system?

Well I got gas again today, haha and the lights are out. Weird connection. Still going to check everything out on Saturday.

The pump is located in the engine compartment, on the drivers side frame rail, just below the air cleaner housing. You may or may not would hear it with the truck running, but definitely could when parked. Do the pin out tests. Also if you have Forscan (extended license), you can command the pump on to confirm if the motor has failed or not.

Thanks for that, I will look for it. I do have forscan and will try that out.

I think if my pump had actually failed my lights wouldn't be going on and off. I'm pretty sure its a wiring issue such as a loose connector or pin or maybe a chaffed or broken wire.

Going through my manual and some google searching and seeing what my options are if in fact my module or motor is bad. Considering a new module from Ford is nearly $1,200 I started looking for other options and found this DIY fix thread for the module. I'm posting it mainly so I can come back and reference the link if I get to that point, but also sharing a good thread for others who might not have found it.

your code is for the pump .. not the module. I sent my module in to get repaired .. $180 had it back in 4 days. You can drive without a module..

First test is
  • Ignition ON.
  • Is the ABS pump motor running all the time?
If it is, they say that means the module is bad.

Started some of the pin out tests, so far voltage is good to the module, the ground is good, and the line from the battery to the module is not shorted. However I was unable to actuate the motor with forscan. I located the control PID list in forscan and there was a pump motor on and off PID, however when I added it to the list and hit the check mark it would not add that to the diagnostic page. I verified my extended license was still good and it wouldn't work. I was able to see the Abs motor relay PID but it never changed due to no command to turn it on. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I might be able to get a video of what I'm doing.
