lol - a young man was on here a year or two ago saying "I tinted my headlights, but now they're too dark. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make them brighter?"

Yeah - he was raked over the coals more than a few times.

I just got the truck and trying to decide what to do, the headlights suck. someone before me put the halo projector lights with separate high/low off ebay on it and did not change the bulbs or something. i dont know if its because of the projector lenses with hologin bulbs or what, But the highs are useless and my fogs seem to help more then my lows

I second this motion. Been through 2 sets and am back to stock halogen's. - 1st aftermarket set: same as cmbezln, projector with an aftermarket HID kit. I'm not sure if he's still using his or not and while I liked them due to the very similar to stock HID look they have, I bailed on mine due to fogging. Not a tinted setup, and cm swears by the projection kit but the housings fogged on me. Search for "bling" to find the thread o the particular brand.
2nd set was a tinted "FX" knockoff set of housings, but still poor quality... Check this link for my pics of the issue. The Lighting Forum is pretty good with write ups and such:

Seems the halogens are not bad, and putting good bulbs like the Philips xstream power in will really help

Philips Extreme, Sylvania ZXE, GE Nighthawk Sport. Tried all of those, too, in my stock chrome halogen housings and while they do provide a more "white" look they do not provide any more improved output. At least in my opinion, but others will disagree. Good luck, I'm still looking for my perfect setup too without breaking the bank for OEM HIDs.
I now have my eyes on a set of dual halo with LED strip and HID kit, in a black bezel, and if they work ok will probably run a bead of sealant on them.

these are what I have now, they came with h1 halogens though. I may try just upgrading them to hids before I give up and buy other housings

Yeah that is why I got up here, it really didnt strike me until I saw a SCrew in black with what looks like tinted headlights, Havent gotten to see the owner but one time and I didn't think to ask what he had done or if he got the truck already like that. I am fine with the light output I just hate all the chrome in the light housing, good ideas in this thread. Waiting on tax money. Uncle Sam aint paid me yet lol.
