    Jack up the front end and spin the wheel as you watch the drive axle. If the drive axle is turning, your locking hub is still engaged. The wheel should spin and the axle stay still. Be sure to check both sides.

    If the hubs are engaged, when you make a sharp turn you'll hear "clunking" of the universal joints in the drive axle(s).

    Thanks for replying but now since I know very little about a 4x4 could you tell me how to check for the hubs sticking. I have some mechanical ability and enough tools to get by so and instruction would help. Thanks Terry
