Default Throttle Controllers

Hey everyone! New to the forum. I have a 2014 f150 XLT 5.0 which I've had for about 7 months. I'm currently thinking of an aftermarket intake ( which I hope will improve the sound and power). But has anyone had any experience with throttle controllers? Looking for a bit more response when I tap the pedal. All tips and wisdom is appreciated. Thanks!

My 2013 had a CAI and factory exhaust when I bought it last June. It made a terrible droning noise every time I touched the throttle. I also felt that it wasn’t running as well as it should. Based on the seat of my pants feel. I bought a used factory intake as soon as I could find one and installed it. It was very annoying.

Good to know! Do you know what brand it was? Ever figure out what might be the cause of that?

The factory intake contains design that stops things like drone and other unwanted noises, it's very common for manufacturers to do this. The factory intake also arguably flows very well on the 5.0 and there isn't anything to gain (performance-wise) from an aftermarket unit. Similar story for the exhaust, but you can absolutely get a great noise from the 5.0 in that area

There's very little power improvement from a cold air intake, and it's all above 5000RPM.

If you want to add power and throttle response, just get a custom tune from OZ tuning and let them know that you prefer a more sensitive throttle pedal. You'll be shocked by just how much power you gain. A custom tune is hands down the best upgrade you can do and well worth the price.

Even the stock OZ tune gives a much better feeling pedal, more like a normal pedal response in my opinion.

Products like pedal commander and the Banks pedal monster provide no performance improvement whatsoever. It changes the pedal map and allows for quicker tip in. Yes they work very well and make the truck seem more responsive. It doesn't change anything else and I haven't seen anyone say it causes any other problems. The commander plugs in down by the pedal, the Banks version plugs in OBD port. Kinda pricey but a nice addition. I've used them in the past, I have a 16 model now and I just put it in sport mode.

$52 at Amazon, seems to work just fine, based on a 10 mile round trip to the gas station and back.

I have a pedal commander and a sct x4 with custom 5* tunes. Both 100% worth it and are great companions. I would personally go with some custom tunes over the pedal commander if I were to buy just one.
I got the pedal commander used locally for cheap and figured why not. I would pay full price again for it in a heart beat. Same with the tunes 100% buy again.

i got a pedal commander and after a couple days i never touched it again. i found if i want to move faster i just do it myself - push the pedal harder. sold it in less than a week. then again a truck is not the vehicle of choice to go fast in - the truck is for towing that vehicle to the track
