Talking to 3 of your buddies is about as worthless "real world data" as taking diet tips from your aunt Sally

You just jumped to that conclusion, not me. For anyone that understands sample size, it only makes sense to pay attention to data collected en mass, not 4 of your buddies. So data from Ford, large scale independent surveys, etc. Talking to 3 of your buddies is about as worthless "real world data" as taking diet tips from your aunt Sally
Seriously tho, as I stated earlier, printed data never bothers to show the percentage of vehicles affected by issues, just that there are issues. Talking to several ppl who have that vehicle who haven't experienced those issues helps you put into perspective that maybe, JUST MAYBE, certain issues are isolated and/or overblown.

What about when you are talking to those three buddies about a chick they all banged, and your about to marry her?? Then that data becomes pretty priceless.

I get what you're saying about the 2nd part, but in my eyes both of those things don't hold much weight. Only time I really pay attention to anything about overall reliability is if I'm talking to a tech at a busy dealership or something like that, personally. They're about the only source out there that's going to paint an accurate picture.
