Tent setup on 2012
Hey folks, camping season has begun and I want to invest in one of those foldout tents that mounts over the truck bed. Smittybilt is the brand I am looking at. However, I do NOT want to get the expensive mount that the tent goes on top of. Has anyone come up with any ceative and affordable ideas for such a setup? Or maybe another setup that is not a foldout tent?

Yes I have an access toolbox rollup tonneau cover. I just roll it up to the toolbox and then set my tent up.
it's kinda hard to see, but there's a shot with the tonneau rolled up

How's she goin' eh?
i had one of these on my ranger. Sporttrendz or some similar name. It was great. Only part that sucked was the removal when I went wheeling in my truck and didn’t wanna tear down every morning. It was easy to remove just repetitive.

This is my Napier Backraodz tent. It leaves enough room for an inflatable air matress and me and my wife can both fit in there comfotably. The part that sucks is crawling in and out takes a bit since the door is right on the tailgate. In many ways a ground tent is eaier to get in and out of. It served us well and kept in place during high winds. It is not a cold weather tent but we have stayed in it down to 32 degrees. Setup is easier on the ground and then place it in the truck bed and strap it down.
