Default Front end overhaul... What am I missing?

Hey Guys!

Got nearly 200K on the 5.4 4WD and about to overhaul the front end before swapping in some Raptor wheels and tires.

Currently, everything is stock and worn flat out! LOL

I am doing Rancho's Quick lift that will swap in new coil and struts, Moog upper and lower control arms for new bushings and ball joints, Tie rod ends, Stabilizer bar links.

Will also be adding 3" blocks in the rear with longer Rancho 9000 shocks.

Lots of PB blaster and patience! LOL

Get everything aligned right after.

Plan to do wheel bearings later this spring/summer when I do brakes again.

Have I covered it all?!

Get the MOOG problem solver series and not the cheaper series (r-series maybe? i can't remember off the top of my head). The cheaper one gets lots of complaints on other forums.

I don't see the lowers in the problem solver series, otherwise, everything else is problem solver CK... I don't know much about mevotech. But rockauto prices have been hard to beat!

I know they make the lowers in the problem solvers, I have them on my 04. The problem solvers give you a grease fitting so you can maintain them better. I check mine every oil change. Should last much longer than the stock ones. Also Moog carries a lifetime warranty, don’t forget about that.

Can I ask why the quicklifts? They are expensive for what they are. The bilstein 6112's is what I would go with compared to the quicklifts. I just haven't read a lot of great things about the ranchos an they were on my list of choices prior to my current setup.

If you already have it done then this point is mute, but I couldn't tell from the way it is worded.

I would also do the bilstein 5100's for the rear instead of the rancho.

I have the Rancho 9000 quick lifts on my 04, only because I got them for free, but they ride stiff. Even on the lowest softest setting they are stiffer than I’d like. I don’t think I would get them again. My 04 is a 2wd though, it’s possible the extra weight of a 4wd would ride a bit smoother but not that much. I have heard great things about the Bilsteins though too.

I just installed the Rancho quick lifts on my 08 4WD.. yes they are a tad bit stiffer than OEM and are adjustable but, I like them. also did the RS9000 in the rear.. big difference over OEM. MOOG does make the problem solvers LBJ.. that’s what I installed.

Thanks everyone.
I will keep diggin for the lower control arm in the Problem Solver series.
I was going Rancho just because they are an easy swap in without spring compressing, etc and I liked the rancho 9000 on a previous f250 I had.

Ill research the 6112 but looks a bit more expensive.

Thanks again!

You need not buy the whole lower control arm..unless you want too. The lower ball joint can be replaced, unlike the upper.

I was doing the whole lower to get it all done: bushings, LBJ, etc... Pricey way to do it, but I wouldn't have to hassle with a ball joint press either!
