Default Tailgate damper

Searched for this but couldn't find anything so I thought I'd ask. The 15-16 models have a factory part number/accessory for adding a tailgate damper assembly behind the passenger side taillight. I'm wondering if there's a similar unit available for the 09-14 models? I've seen the cheesy DeeZee units and I'm just not interested in those. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That so called cheesy DeeZee unit has been doing the job on my 2013 for 4 years now and still going strong, if you want one that's hidden like the 15+ then trade your truck in.

It really is just that simple.

I'm guessing you mean the tailgate shock. DeeZee is your option. With a little mod they work great.

I've seen one of these setups on another make of truck and the support cable was still on the same side as the damper. On this particular model, there wasn't room for both and had binding issues due to that fact. On the F150, is there plenty of room for the cable and the damper or do you remove the cable on the side the damper goes on?

There is room for both the shock and the stock cable.

I added a Dee Zee to my 2011 and love it. No mod needed. What is the "mod"?
