I had one of the first kits for $40 and it failed in 2 yrs. No help from DeeZee. They came out with a new one and I bought it (begrudgingly) for $25 and it's been fine for the last 4 yrs.

Installed a DeeZee last fall seems to work great.

Only downside is that in our cold winter climate, it takes FOREVER to open on extremely cold days. Evidently the hydraulic fluid thickens quite a bit in the cold.

I put the DeeZee damper on my 14 FX4 Friday night. I love it. Installed without mod out of the box and it's solid as a rock. If it ever starts to loosen up, I'll deal with it then.

These work good, expect when the temps fall under 40 degrees and it takes 5 minutes for the tailgate to lower
