I opted for the clear smoke, get compliments on them all the time, well made with quality leds, not the Chinese crap.

I also debated the clear smoked or red smoked and am very happy I went with clear smoked. A few obligatory pics to help you decide.

Thanks guys!! Keep em coming!! I do appreciate and will consider the member who chimed in with some used Recon's for sale! After 3 or more of you commented that you think OEM smoked FX4 tails would look best, I have really considered that option and thought that it may be the way to go, for a subtle change, even though they are not LED, I have a feeling as some of you do also, that the dark Recon's may look a bit too teenage...lol.. I am 40 years old now, still young at heart, but am thinking that the lightly smoked FX4 tails may just give me the change I am looking for, and still not look too out of place. I checked with my Ford Dealer this afternoon. They can get me a set of FX4's for $225. Whats your thoughts?

I replaced a set of FX tails with these lamps and I'm 51, of course I was only 49 when I bought them so yeah it's a teen thing. Your only as old as you feel mentally, if I went by physical age, my aches, and creaks and cracks say I'm probably closer to 107.

Do what YOU want!!! It's YOUR truck not theirs! Those saying it looks cheap or teenybopper are in one of two categories, those that really want them but can't afford them and those with no taste at all, LOL.

P.S. You can get brand new FX style tails from Ford for a lot less than that, http://www.levittownfordparts.com/fo...ked-p-445.html

OEM FX tails for the win. Check out the member Marketplace for shakezone, a member here who takes your stock chromes plus a bit o cash ($60 i think) in exchange for a set of new FX tails, if you're willing to part with your originals. A few of us have done this deal and are quite pleased.

Thanks very much! LOL.....on the price for the FX4's, I am in Canada...so even with that cheap price on the link you gave me...add exchange rate and import charges, and I wouldn't be far off from the $225..haha...

Think i am going with FX4 tails folks! I am a fairly subtle guy, and don't want a major change to my truck. I think the light smoked lens and black bezel will make a big change from my stock clear lens and silver bezel (ugly...lol)....thanks for all of your opinions!

Good choice, then paint the outer edges black or PTM or whatever you want and you'll be good to go! And swap in LEDs for the reverse lights.
