Default Sync vs. Siri...

From yesterdays WWDC (Apple World Wide Developers Conference, where Apple always makes their big announcements...
Many new cars will have Siri integration, Apple working with auto manufacturers to bring Siri buttons directly into the steering wheel of upcoming cars, support from a huge range of manufacturers
My guess is that Siri is going to make Sync look like amateur hour in comparison. While I think Ford is probably too far along with Microsoft to make the change, I can dream, can't I? Personally, I think Sync Sycks and would love to see it binned.

Siri will definitely kick Siri's butt. Apple perfects pretty much everything they do. Sync isn't terrible, but it could be a whole lot better. Maybe this will force Microsoft to make some big changes to their current systems.

Good for Ford to not give in to Apple's control. Someone needs to stand up to them and who best but Ford, about time!

Siri is horrible. I'm a huge apple fan going back 20 years and have had every iphone on launch day 1. But Siri is still horrible, and I'm not the only one that thinks so, the tech press in general have been unkind to Siri. I never use it.

Siri is trash. Spend one hour with it. Sync isn't much better either. I think voice controlled stuff is really stupid and gimmicky.

Siri is currently a beta program. I'm willing to bet in iOS6 that it will be much improved.

While I agree with most of what the article above said about not letting Apple take control over your entire entertainment system, one thing that stands out is the unwillingness from Ford to not use Apple's mapping system. Sounds to me like Ford with rather the customer use their outdated DVD based maps and then shell out $200 every year for an update.

I'm a huge apple fan and always will be. But voice control I'm not a fan of. It's faster to use my thumbs. I will say I use it in my text messages to write them while I drive but I always forget to use Siri.

That's what Verizon thought when Apple approached them before AT&T for an iPhone exclusive... (Apple: "You can have it as an exclusive, but you'll do it our way" Verizon: "Nah... that iPhone will never amount to nuthin.").

We all know how that worked out for them. Likely the worst business decision Verizon ever made. Two years of getting crushed in by AT&T on customer acquisition and churn until the exclusive was over, and then... Verizon has to do it Apples way anyway.

I agree Siri isn't great, but expect it to be much improved by years end. And even as is, is easily as good. Sync, on the other hand, is buggy, cumbersome, has a terrible user interface, and is of an innovation level typical of Microsoft products. I know others don't agree... To each his own, but Apple will own the automotive phone/data/navigation integration market in two years.

As I posted elsewhere the day Steve Jobs returned to Apple, and again the day the iPad was released, buy AAPL. So many disagreed...

And we know how that turned out as well.

I also am a Apple fan and hope that iOS 6 improves Siri. Siri is a great idea, just lacks on usability. It was strange for Apple to release a beta program. I wish Ford would team w/ Apple. Using Sync thru Siri would be great.
