Probably won't happen, but not necessarily "can't". It is limited to the hardware and the willingness of QNX to port for it, not who the original software designer was. As an example, I run Linux on several computers designed for WinBlows because it is ported for the x86 CPU architecture in my computers.

QNX has a micro kernel architecture that will run on x86 (Intel/AMD Windows) based CPUs along just about any other modern CPU and can be found in anything from routers and phones to industrial and defense applications. I imagine the real hurdle would be on the legal front between Ford and Microsoft.

I've never seen any literature/specs on they Sync system so I don't know what the hardware consists of. Anybody know?

Does this specifically pertain to updates to the 'new' QNX system - or to *ANY* updates at all? It'd be one thing to not be able to port to the new system; I honestly don't expect that.

But if, now that the 'new' system is on its way, Ford chooses to say "Sorry current Sync customers - we're dropping support altogether" - that's a completely different (and ridiculous) story.

I am sure that I'm not the most tech savvy person......so my question is what is so bad about the current SYNC? It connects my phone to the truck and once you learn the proper voice commands you tell your truck all kinds of things to do.

What else is it supposed to do? Just wondering!

When it works correctly, it's ok. However, many people have issues from minor annoyances to major problems. I only have minor issues like SYNC forgetting I'm listening to FM1 or USB. I start the truck and get greeted by loud AM static. It sometimes completely locks up when listening to USB music, but I can't make it repeat the issue by playing the same song again.

Is it me or does this not look like the sat nav out of like a 2003 Mercedes? They could work a little harder on making it look more modern? I like the layout of the current sync but this looks like a leap back in terms of aesthetics
