Default Sync v3 Announced

Ford just announced the new version of Sync and it is based on QNX. Looks interesting. Easier updates. I think I know the answer, but can anyone from Ford tell us if the v2 systems can be updated and/or is this the end of updates for all of us with the existing v2?

That's not going to happen. The current versions are Microsoft, this new version is QNX (owned by Blackberry). That would be like trying to install the Blackberry OS on a Windows phone.

Oh, as an IT guy, I know that very well. It won't stop me from dreaming and wishing though. LOL

That's not enough to make me sell the truck; but I could easily see replacing the head unit or something in the future.

per CNET, only the new models will have it and the current v2 users not upgradable. b**ch!!! even the new 2015's won't have it just yet but are able to update.

not sure how hard it would be for us current users to update. I know it's all wifi based updates built into the system itself but at least let us use the current method of the USB stick. at the least, i'm hoping for a small update if we can't get v3.

That's what I'm saying. I don't think Ford (or many other car makers) realize how important the media system is in making a decision. If not for us, then for many others.

The hardware sounds nice, but that user interface looks terrible. I just want applink on v2.
