yea i did master reset , disconnecting battery , changing flash memory , downloading files from different laptops.
still hanging like more than 1 hour saying " installing files" and never receive any other massage i end up turn my car off

Was it possible there where too many files on the drive?
Maybe the first file was the only one that should've been unzipped and downloaded.
Just guessing here.

Did you ever get an answer to this issue as I have the same?


1. I have Sync with Voice Activated Navigation
2. I followed all directions and downloaded to a thumb drive
3. Plugged thumb drive in...went to Media, USB, Settings, Install
4. It asked me if I wanted to install and I hit yes.
5. Been stuck on "Installing Files" for well over an hour.
6. Took thumb drive out and turned car off.
7. Tried it again and I get message "Installation already in progress"....then "Installing File...". Going on an hour again and still hung there.
8. After another hour, I yanked the USB and turned the truck off. Now, it says "Installing File..." and I don't even have the USB drive in. No way to cancel install as far as I can tell.


Does Master Reset delete all the CDs loaded into Jukebox?

Hi Steve

I got the same issue what i did is disconnecting the battery for few seconds and return it back
I start the car when i press install it says no media found and when i insert the falsh it says begin install as the first step so i didnt start the installation as i know it wont work cause I tried everything and its stock . but i get rid of the system stuck on installing even without flash drive in it and im using my system as before without upgrading

Nope. Shaay said he wanted to help, but when I told him what system I had, he went silent. I never got the update to work.

Thanks. I disconnected the battery and it stopped the "Installation already in progress". Now waiting until I need to drive somewhere and will be int he car for a couple of hours to give it another go.


Seems like someone from Ford would jump in on this. Went to the dealer and all they said is "it takes a long time". So do I let it run for 6 hours?

Hey guys,

If you're having issues with the installation process, you can always try a master reset. The reset process does not erase the Jukebox media. Here are the steps: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-t...avigation.html

Also, the installation process should take approximately 20-30 minutes. If you continue to have issues, please visit your local dealer for the installation.

Did anyone with this issue find a solution, wasted a couple hours on this today and never got the update loaded. Waited well over an hour for the installation to complete but it never did.

I've updated my Sync system multiple times. I'd say maybe around 4 times since I purchased it in 2011. I never had any issues until this last update. It actually told me to reinsert the USB drive even though it was still in there. Nothing wrong with the USB drive either. Formatted correctly, works great to this day, etc. I left it for about an hour and nothing changed. So I removed it and reinserted it, said installation complete twice, but never got any Bluetooth connectivity though. Sync voice menu would pull up but never could get the Bluetooth active. Ended up at the dealer with a bill for an hour in the shop.
