Default Found the cut and spliced wires.

The bug microphone has a microphone and long cord with a 3 pin connector (part number 8T4T-19A391-AA) that plugs into another spliced in harness in the back of the cab above the headliner.
The dealer cut the wires to the mirror microphone in the rear of the cab and spliced in the harness that the bug microphone plugs into.
Its a real PIA to follow out but once you find the spot it won't be hard to redo if you are so inclined.
A Google search of the microphone shows it may have been replaced with a AT4Z-19A391-AJ so maybe its a better quality now? Although an eBay search pulls up a AT4Z19A391AJ which is the recessed version according to the picture, I think.
If I get it working again I will post with the results in case some other poor fellow tries this.

For both the mic and the retainer bezel shipped it was like $49.
I am hoping I get the parts this weekend so I can get it installed.

Cool. And not too bad of a price. Let us know if it picks up as well and has the about the same noise canceling.

I look forward to hearing back from you. That stupid bug looking one has destroyed my last nerve with its looks and falling down.

I know this is going to sound like a bad excuse, but yesterday I started to tear in to the system to replace the microphone and the damn thing started to work again. I am supposing perhaps it was a pinched wire or something as I pulled most of it loose from where it was routed to get plenty of slack for the splice procedure. Then I thought i would check it one last time for function, and it worked! My motto being 'if its not broke, don't fix it' I tucked the wires back in the headliner loosely and snapped the dome light/sunglasses holder back in place and called it a day.
If it craps out again I will splice into it and post here though.
I will edit this post in a bit to include the new part number of the microphone in case anyone else comes up on this issue and want the real number.

The microphone in my 2012 King Ranch Expedition hasn't worked in months. I did all the resets and updates for Sync. The Sync system all works but no-one can hear me so I'm sure it's the microphone. Mine is in the headliner near the visor. I saw in one of these forums to try replacing Fuse #2 in a side panel and want to know if anyone has tried this, does it work? My parts number on the microphone look different then what I'm seeing here, AT4T-19A391-ABW-3588.

I have the same problem on my 2014 STX. Tried all the resets and fuses removals. Sync still won't hear my commands at all. Though never used them much anyway.
