How do you know which version you have installed? I went to System Info, which one of those is my version?

Edit: Logged into support.for.com, says I have Version: Gen1 - V3.1

Edit: Good Grief: Your last update was confirmed on: September 28, 2010

if you ever swap devices on USB2 while the truck is on (or even unplug the device then plug it right back in) sync will no longer recognize that a device is plugged into USB2 even though it will charge and the radio display will say "USB2 Device removed" if you unplug it again.

Also if you have a device plugged into USB2 and also put a device on the USB port in the dash (USB1 to me) and switch sync to USB1 you will NOT be able to return to USB2 unless you remove the device from USB1 (the other member's truck wouldnt even do that.)

If the truck stops recognizing the USB2 device for any reason listed above the fix is to unplug anything thats in USB1, turn the truck off, open a door, close it again then start the truck (or put the key in the run position) and it will recognize the USB2 device (as long as it was plugged back in BEFORE putting the key in the run position again)
Were those issues present before the update or after?

Ok bottom line is this update going to fix get my text messages on my 2012 f150 and iPhone or not. If they can't fix this than what's the point??
Sync so far has been disappointment. Half the time it calls the wrong people in my address book and the navigational part of it (the non graphic version) reminds me of the 1995 system I had on my commadore 64 with computron.

Apparently, I have an amazing Sync version/Nav version, it never requires updates - version 3.1 is the latest update and it came out May 2010, over 3 years ago, they were so smart that they programmed it to be compatible with every new phone that was going to come out for the next 10 years!

USB2 being a pain in the *** only occurred AFTER the update.

The reason I chose to do that update was because of index/voice command errors with my ipod every ~3 weeks or so (i leave it plugged in all the time)

I happen to have an appointment for my truck tomorrow morning for an oil change, Limp mode, vibration at take off, PS speaker cracking and now I will have them update my sync if it can be done..... I have the basic sync non nav but it must be a gen 1 because it is no different than the first one they came out with... I don't use the usb2 so I won't be able to add to your wondering but I may try it afterwards. I do know that you can only use one aux line at a time. I put a switch inline for my usb1 so if I want to use my DVD Nav system it will work using the line in. So it does seem to default to usb since I always have my line in hooked up to my Kenwood and if I want to play the kenwood I have to switch off the usb first or sync won' find the line in.

If you go back and read post #5, text messaging only works with Apple devices if you have a MyFord Touch system.

Let us know what they say about the update.

I'm the other one that had the update done. Only thing I have found with mine is that I can no longer say USB 2 to get it to work, and if I use bluetooth audio. I have to turn off the truck and open the door to get USB 2 to work. Just as long as nothing is in the USB port is works just like it did. Texting is still not supported with this update.

Hi, everyone -

This isn't a customer-facing update as your vehicle must be exhibiting certain conditions for it to apply.

I'm unable to speak to TSB-related information. Please contact your dealership to see if it can be installed.
