Default Sync Bluetooth Call Echo

When I take or make calls I hear myself echo over the truck speakers. Louder than the other party and clear as day. The other person is also very quiet so I have to turn the Vol up to about 50% (normally stay around 15-20%). THe other people say they are hearing me nice and clear and would not have known I was on speaker. I have not tried any other phone but I know my phone works fine on other speakerphones and Bluetooth devices. "My Ford" says I need an update that has to be done at the dealer. Is there a way for me to do the upgrade or will the dealer charge for it?

go to syncmyride.com. Create an account, and you can download the update to a usb drive, then put the usb drive in your trucks usb port. I don't remember all the details (sorry), but I had to do this when I first got my truck.

maybe turn down the volume on your phone. When I get echo on mine it is always because somehow I maxed out the volume on the phone. Turn it down and echo goes away.

I have to turn my volume almost all the way up to hear the other person also. I don't notice an echo though.

I have an account all set up, it says I have to do to the dealer. No option to download the update.

I will try turning the phone vol down but that's just going to make it harder to hear the other person.

My Sync also says that I have to take it to a dealer, but when I do, the dealer says that there is not an update. What year is your truck?

2009, and the site says my last update was august 2009 when this truck was purchased according to carfax.

Hi jpayton,

Most commonly, this is because the phone on the other end is picking up their own receiver. I can see how this might even be amplified if you are raising your own phone volume. Does the echo occur with every contact you call out to? If not, ask the person with whom you are having this issue to put you on speaker phone. By definition, it shouldn't echo because the device automatically cancels out the ear piece to prevent feedback. My only other suggestion would be to try connecting a different phone to SYNC, then see if the issue persists.

In 09 they had an update / TSB that adds a noise canceling mic to the early gen 1 sync setups to help with this issue.

I had this happen when I called my mom once on her cell phone. Called the house phone and no issue so it was on her end, not mine.
