Default strobes

Anyone have strobe lights installed? Are they difficult to install? I do alot of traveling thru PA, NJ, MD and VA. Thought it would be a good idea incase I ever need to pull over.

Not in my F150, but I had a set in my ranger and they were easy to install. Just drilling a few holes and running two wires to the power modules from a switch and to a power source.

I had them in my 2010 Screw FX4 and now in my 2011 Screw 4x4 Lariat.... they mount very well in the front turn signal and cannot be seen for when you trade... the strobes int the back mount in the back up bulb section and is a very very tight fit.. but works... Mount the box behind the back seat for easy access if you want to change the strobe configuration....

PS.... remember to seal around the bulb... moisture will blow the strobes in a heartbeat and they are roughly $30 a piece to replace....

I have a set of 4 Sho Me strobes that I had in a previous truck. I have been meaning to install in this truck, just have not gotten around to it. I am putting all 4 in the tailights (2 on each side of course). The problem is I need to get all 4 cables into the cab - the power supply has to be inside the vehicle (not weather proof) but I am not certain where to get those cables into the cab from. I really dont want to drill any holes and the cables are not small (especially all four together).

I am also not thrilled with the idea of drilling 2 1" holes in each tail light but I guess I have to. I am a volunteer FF and use them on calls.

I thought about it but decided it would be easier to just go with a bigger light bar inside my rear glass as I didn't want to mess with the inside/outside transition for the wiring either with the holes in the body etc. I was going to install a 4 corner setup with a whelen air horn but shelved it due to equipment cost and install concerns. Havent bought the bigger rear lightbar yet, thinking of going TIR3 to punch through that OEM tint since my current Whelen Dual Avengers get lost in the tint during daylight hours but do just fine at night.

OP, if you go ahead and do it make sure to give us a good write-up so we can live vicariously through you and see where you routed the outside/inside wiring...

Use LEDs. The 45W (assume) strobes may eventually heat scortch the inside of the housings. LEDs give many flash patterns, even an always on setting if you want.

I had a little fun with mine.

LEDs are certainly preferred but I already own the strobes. Just cant justify getting the LEDs. To the OP, you don't have the power supply issue with LEDs like strobes require
