i already have usb to ODB 2 and forscan on my laptop.

I wanted remote start so i bought:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS3351F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XS3351F/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-For...72.m2749.l2649

lowes cut the keys for free for me and i did the rest with my hands/ 2 zip ties/ forscan/ and a thread here on how to program keys and all works great..

*only note, the keys maybe becuase of how they were cut only turn over in 1 direction..vs the stockers go either way. but im all in for remote start for $70'ish bucks

PPS: i did have 2 keys to start with so i could program myself ...you need 2 keys as noted above

I've had lowes cut keys for free before, or for the cost of a key, but this last time the key clerk didn't want to do it in case he messed it up,

one other thing that that I have done, and it's saved my rear a couple times, I had lowes cut a very basic non-chipped key for me, like a $2 key. I have it hidden. My truck doesn't have keypad entry. If you lock your keys in the truck, or if you have a dead battery, a basic key will unlock the door and let you in.

this also works good for the sportsman, cyclist, jogger, fisherman, etc, that doesn't want a wad of keys in the pocket. A basic key will get you in to access your wad of keys to get you down the road.

I did order from EBAY. the dealer is the one who told me that the programming is listing in the manual. I do have a remote start. I was just confused as to why some would program to start the truck and the others wouldn't? it's as if you are only allowed to have 3 programmed keys.

could you expand on your comment about keys turning over only one way? When I program them does that mean I have to put them in the ignition a certain way?

first one key - then the second (both already start the car) then the new one. do they all need to face the same direction? (wording on the fob all facing toward you?)

This is what the lowes was referring to in my above post, and why they wouldn't cut my last ebay keys, although they had done it in the past.

if they mis cut, they have no way of fixing it. Frustrating but I understand their policy.
