Default Solid rear window to Power Slider

So, I finally got around to getting mine done. I was communicating w/another guy on here on the same subject, so the post is in a different area. Don't know how to (or if it's even possible) to copy a post from one thread and paste it in another. Sooo, here's the link if your interested...

Hmmmm...I've debated doing this for awhile. My '04 lariat had the power rear slider. My '10 stx has the manual slider, that I never use because I can't reach it.

I also have the Jason cap on the back. It also came with a solid front window and just changed that to a slider yesterday. Now my wife won't feel so bad when we have our 2 golden retrievers in the back. They shed way too much hair to ride in the cab.

Default Update...

So, yesterday I went to the local dealership to help me find the trim piece that goes around the new switch I put in. He spent about 25-30 min looking at his computer screen, only to tell me it's not available as a separate piece. I would have to buy a whole new headliner console that comes with the switch, and the trim piece! Price: 148.00 plus tax---and I already have the console & the switch! I just need a piece of plastic.

So, today I got out my little hobby knife, and went to work. I took the "blank" trim piece that I removed so that I could install the switch, and started cutting. The end result...

The first pic is the "blank" piece; Second pic is the switch installed w/o trim; the past pic is my self-made trim piece. It may not be OEM, but it fits perfectly, is the exact same color, and didn't cost me over $150.00!

Does the defrosting feature work, now that u have the slider? The only reason I want the slider is so I can have the rear defrost for the winter months. Idk why ford doesn't put them on the solid rear windows.

I haven't checked it yet. I guess I could put a meter on the connections to find out, but that would mean taking out the seat and the gray fiber insulating board again to get to it.

However, from what I read in the owners manual, if you have the heated mirrors, the rear defroster is on the same circuit/switch. And since the wiring was already there for the rear defroster, I'm guessing it's already wired to the switch. I'm going on the adage if A=B and B=C, then A=C. I'll know for sure the first time I turn it on this fall...
