UPDATE--For those of you that have asked me--whether on this thread or thru private message--if my defroster worked after my installation, the answer is no, and I'm GLAD!!

Apparently, after doing this install, the appropriate fuse needs to be installed as well in slot 32 in the fuse box under the hood. That is one thing I didn't know about, which probably saved me from losing the window completely do to an "explosion" of the glass. According to another thread on here (link below), these specific windows have been known to explode after the defroster has been turned on.

Just wanted to update you guys...

I was actually able to get the defroster to work. But it required replacing my climate control with one that had the defroster switch....(look at my thread adding heated mirrors for not much money). I also noticed they have a resistor in line on the positive side on these kits to drop the power down to .7v.... kind-of wondering if that was the fix to keep the voltage from shattering the window? But not sure how much usual voltage is on a rear defogger....

I would have to buy a whole new headliner console that comes with the switch, and the trim piece! Price: 148.00 plus tax---and I already have the console & the switch! I just need a piece of plastic.

So, today I got out my little hobby knife, and went to work. I took the "blank" trim piece that I removed so that I could install the switch, and started cutting. The end result...

The first pic is the "blank" piece; Second pic is the switch installed w/o trim; the past pic is my self-made trim piece. It may not be OEM, but it fits perfectly, is the exact same color, and didn't cost me over $150.00!
I am now in this same boat. My question is did you cut the legs of the plate off? Did you trim underneath. Was there an issue popping this plate back in place with the switch there? Is there anything you would have done differently?

Thank you for the write up.

This is the power harness for the slider motor.

So for at least my truck the power connectors are there for both heated glass and the power slider motor. So all I need to do now is get the new HVAC control that has the heated mirror/window switch.

I have the option for a cheap window. In my 14 STX, odds of the wiring being back there for the defroster to work are....? I swapped out the climate controls for the heated mirrors, so that part is taken care of.

Easy enough to check. I seem to remember that the wiring wasn't there on the STX models but I could be mistookin.

The wiring is there I have a 2014 STX and I know it is on mine (I installed a power slider in mine) and a few other STX's have too.
