Default Soft Camper Shell

Wondering if anyone has used them and if they are worth the money. I like the ability to take it off and store it in a much smaller footprint than a rigid style one. I am looking at this one, if anyone has experience with them let me know the good and bad.

Then you should be fine. Not sure how easy it is to put up and take down, but it should meet your needs. How much are they?

They are around $700 depending on where you look.

For the price, I would look at hard shell toppers, however if space when not in use is your primary concern then it looks good.

FYI - I do not personally have one, however a truck near my home does. It has been on for 2 years and looks good, although I did not see him using it when the snow was on the ground. Nor do I know how durable it is if a dog were to want to scratch its way out.

Good luck,

Whoa! No way would I spend that much on that.

Find a used one if your dead set on one. Or find something different.

How much are fiberglass shells these days? I haven't bought a regular camper shell for 15 years or so.

Not that much more for a new one.

I would find a nice used Leer or ARE on craigslist. If its the wrong color have it painted.

You could probably find one for around 400$

In my area (far west burbs of Chicago) I was finding used toppers for anywhere from $300 to $500 in great shape. No idea what new prices are.

When I have tossed my dog in the back, I run a tie down from front driver to rear passenger side with a loop near the center. Then hook him up with a 2' or so of rope to his harness so he can't get his paws up on the rails, but he can stick his noes just over the edge. He loves it till we get to around 50-55 on a main road, then he just lays down.
