Should I Lock In Current Rebates?
When I purchased my truck on July 31, 2010, I was between two dealers. The one I chose stated that they were a "select" dealer who could "guarantee all rebates and incentives," which I have in writing. This was one reason I chose to go with them.
My truck was built at the end of August, but has been on a transit ramp for some time - today I called and they said it could be shipped at any time. My research on various forums indicates that it could be on "the transit ramp" for several more weeks.
I was thinking about sending the dealer an instruction to do whatever they need to do to lock in the current rebates (which total $4,500 if I finance through Ford). The current rebates expire on October 4, 2010.
Any thoughts. Some of my friends say the rebates could get better for 2010 non-XLT models.
Thanks!

When I ordered both of out Fords earlier this year, I was given the option of taking the rebates at time of order OR at time of delivery, it was my choice at time of delivery. I was able to choose the rebate(s) that best benefited me.
This was in Canada, not sure about the US.

Any dealer can give you any current or previous incentive package they want. My dealer told me I would be granted whichever was better from time of order to time of delivery. Not sure why your factory order is taking so long. I ordered mine in mid July and it was delivered Aug 9th. Was about 4 weeks.
I went to a lot and bought mine on august 31st after getting home I realized the build date was 8/28/2010. I'm not sure what is taking so long.

If they ordered the truck for you, they will honor and your will receive the best one.
Mine took few days short of 8 weeks to receive. I ordered the back-up camera and that's installed after the build (doesn't seem cost efficient, but) which delayed it by 10 days.
I got $5500 in rebates in latter part of August. You may just get lucky with the truck taking longer to deliver.

If you go on-line and request a brochure be mailed to you and indicate you're planning on buying in the next 30-90 days, your name will show up almost immediately on a $750 rebate list that the dealer can access and you can use to make your purchase. Try it. It works.

Is that what your dealer told you? Sounds like they forgot to order it. Mine came off of the trailer from the factory with it installed. Do you have the reverse sensing system also?
I called today and they said the truck is still "in transit" and is on a a delay due to weather conditions (which must be in Kansas City because that is where it was built). They said Allied railway company has it.
As we get closer to the beginning of October, I feel I may be SOL on the current rebates and the $750 brochure coupon.....

I don't want to worry you unnecessarily but I have to wonder if the "weather delay" is from hail damage. We had a bad hail storm come through KC last Saturday. http://test.crh.noaa.gov/eax/?n=18_19september2010
