Default Shifter Conversion

Has anyone done a console shifter to column shifter conversion? I know several people have gone from column to console, but I can’t find anything about going the other way. I’d like to know how hard it is.

I actually don’t have one yet but I’m looking. I like the 8” screen and full center console of the higher end trucks but I do not like the console shifter.

SYNC 1 is bad, SYNC 2 is also bad. Any factory 8" screen you get is going to be a pain in the butt. Just get a column shifter truck and swap in a double din head unit - much less work than swapping shifters and in the end you get a modern, usable head unit.

That sucks to hear. Are SYNC 1-2 really that bad, and can they be updated to SYNC 3 or 4? I also think the factory controls with the 4 ***** looks so much better than the aftermarket controls with only 2 *****, plus I like the full center console. I know, I’m picky

Different hardware, can't be updated with just software. SYNC 1 is a lost cause. A SYNC 2 system can be removed and the hardware for SYNC 3 can be bolted in and then programmed. It will function similar to factory, but at a cost on par with or higher than an aftermarket head unit.

hmm. I wish someone made an aftermarket head unit that worked with the factory radio controls

Who makes an aftermarket radio/headunit that replaces the factory one below and still retains the factory bezel with radio control *****? I was under the impression no one did.

You haven't said what year your truck is. Here's one for the '13-'14 trucks with the 4" screen:

Here's another:

With these no-name Chinese head units, you're taking a bit of a risk though.
