Severe case of modititis….need cure (opinions)
I go to the Albuquerque area quite often and I have seen some of your trucks (didn't know who owned them until now) in person. You have good taste! IMHO, coil-overs set at 2.5" or full blown 4" kit is the way to go. I'm a recovering mod-aholic myself. I haven't done much to this truck yet because I'm still finishing up my new house but every time I set foot in Trucks Unique, those parts are begging me to buy them!
That is cool that you have actually seen some of my trucks around! I don't see any of them anymore despite how many I owned and sold here...lol.

Thanks for the compliment! I think I am going to go with the Rancho system but still wanting to vet out the Icons a tad more. If I go with the 4-inch system and the truck doesn't fit into my garage, this will turn out to be an expensive lift no matter what I do.
I like the Trucks Unique shop and used to buy there but over the years I found them to be less competitive than some of the other shops in town. But they do good work. Their service is "hit and miss" for me; a couple of guys there seem genuinely interested in working with you, but some others treat you like you're a bother. I get much better service and pricing with my friends at Desert Rat or Accessories Unlimited. If you go to Desert Rat, talk to Darren (their GM there) or go see Brandon at Accessories Unlimited....both are great guys to work with and take care of you.
Hey, glad you were able to finally get some info. Those new wheels sound sweet and so does the icon system. Like you said, I'm sure he was being specific to the 2.5. I'm still interested in the 2.0 as it is cheaper overall than both and I feel I could install it myself and save some dough. The 2.5 could be worth the extra doth if it does provide a softer ride on road at the higher setting. I'm just still a little Leary on the 4 in for myself bc of parking garages and the fact that I some trucks the 35s even look small to me. Some look perfect though. Does the rancho give exactly 4in? For some reason it looks like more than that to me in some pics and sometimes I can't tell the diff bt that and a bds 6in. Have you by chance given sdhq offroad a call. I think they've done a few icon setups and might have some good info.
I thought my last Rancho gave me closer to 5 inches of lift of front but I can't find the thread where I thought I gave the final measurements (of course). I asked Desert Rat about this since they are doing the install, and they thought the Rancho was exactly 4 inches and had never had anyone tell them differently either. I hope they are right as I need every 1/4 inch I can muster if I want my setup to fit.
I have not call sdhq...great suggestion. I will try and call them tomorrow.
Back away from the checkbook and no one gets hurt.
Your trucks look very nice, but geez louise man, feed the poor in your town or clothe the homeless for a couple of months.
You will feel better for it!

Call me crazy but maybe chrome wheels would look good because you have no other chrome?? Would be unique for sure.
I vote no on the topper from a purely looks perspective..
Edit: And there is no cure, I'm afraid your condition is terminal

Wow....seriously, and what makes you assume that I don't contribute to others?
I thought this forum was about sharing our common interest in our trucks, getting/giving ideas, and just having fun. Now I am being judged on how I should spend my money by someone who doesn't know anything about me (in my own thread no less...lol).

Well, I already have the topper and I actually really like the look but I totally get the comment because it is one of those love it/hate it things...lol.
I don't think your suggestion about chrome is that bad as I have look at some options. I personally never been a fan of chrome on the FX4, but have seen some black and blue FX4s pull it off fine. Just not sure about the grey and black mix on mine. But thanks for the suggestions!
And yes, definitely terminal!

Desert, I been meaning to ask you (your trucks are absolutely amazing btw) about your trademark light bar. You have inspired me to do the same or something similar. I know nothing about these. Is there an auxiliary switch that you have to put in the cab to turn them on and off or what? How does this work? Thanks man.
I have a sterling grey XLT and am looking at the following wheels. Not sure if you have looked at any of them. They are all black with some sort of machined face or a little chrome. For me I want just a little to offset the black as I think it can look to dark and black for me. I am also matching my chrome just a bit, but don't want to go full chrome. Especially since I plan to Ptm or powder coat my bumpers.
BMF:
FITE death metal black/machined
REHAB black/machined
REPR black/machined
They are pricey though
Moto metal:
959 black machined
951 satin w/ chrome insert (I know you had the chromed before)
Mickey Thompson:
Side biter II satin black
Pro comp:
Series 8180 gloss black/machined
Series 7031 flat black
For what it's worth and its just my opinion I am not a fan of the Boosts. They seem to busy or something to me.
Anyhow, eagerly following to see how things turn out

I don't mind the look of a topper as long as it is color matched. They are very functional especially for camping. When I was a kid my dad had a camper shell on a '69 F100 (I own it now). It was the old wood frame, aluminum siding, wood paneling inside, fugly. I didn't like how it looked but we did a lot of camping in that thing. It kept us relatively warm and dry throughout some crazy weather. I've been thinking of getting a shell myself (color matched, modern) but the misses just isn't buying into the idea.

Not "judging" you at all, and if you do tithe, more power to you and your family. You asked for a "cure" and "opinions". I merely offered both.
Sincerely sorry if you felt offended.
