Default Rusting bumpers

Hi All. I have an F-150 with chrome bumpers. All the bumpers have rust on them after only 10 months on the road. Anyone else have the same problem? If so what will Ford do to correct the problem? I did own a 2006 F-150 and never had a spot of rust. The truck is kept in a garage every night.

I think you're talking about rust spots on the outside, not the rusting on the inside issue...?

If so, I had the same took lots of pictures (only 8 weeks after we got it) and emailed them to the dealer. They said not to worry, it's 'rail dust' which is quite common on vehicles they get from dust buildup on transport. i.e. it's not part of your truck that's rusting but little flecks of external metal dust that are doing it.... anyhow, put it in for a few hours and they cleaned it very well, no rust and the truck looked cleaner than new. Very happy.

I know you've been running your truck a lot longer but maybe your spots are just appearing now because you live somewhere with less harsh weather and road conditions? (I don't think you said where) I'm guessing all the salt and wet up here might have brought the ones on my truck out quicker...

My truck has 1000km on it, and I noticed some rust on the outside of the rear bumper, but it cleaned off easily...if it comes back, I'll call the dealer.

Just noticed some rust spots on my chrome side steps. Truck is also about 10 months old. I heard this was a problem in the past. Wish I had black ones.

black ones can rust too, I had the factory black steps on my old 04 truck and after 4 years they were starting to rust. My trucks are garage kept too.

my 2010 fx4 has rust spots all over the front bumper, it looks like every stone chip is rusting. It's going to the dealership on fri, hopefully they have a fix. The truck is only 5 months old with 24k's, not cool.

I don't think Ford covers surface rust in the warranty, it's only perforations.

They do cover rusting from the inside out though.
