Haha no I will not go for warranty fraud. I know when I remove the steps it's gonna look worse then what it doesn't now. I'm just wondering if I should just wire wheel it as best I can and then get it over to a shop to fix. It's just gonna get worse this winter and I refuse for that to happen! Any ideas?

Of that were mine, I would tape it off and sand it, prime it and then use the bed liner spray you are mentioning. It will look like it was meant to be there for the exact reason it is.

I wouldn't bother if you're already going to bring it in to a shop. Just remember rust repair will have no warranty

Maybe. Depends on the shop. I know the one I work at will charge you the same either way.

Out of curiosity then, what would your shop normally charge for this repair?

Depends. Only 4 doors? Bedsides too? Rockers? Cab corners? How would you want it done? Painted from the style line down? Or whole door repaint?

Cab of the truck ( scab ) just that area, I see no reason to paint the whole door, or body line down

Oh, not on the doors at all? From the pic looks like the bottoms of the doors.

Just cab corners? And rockers? Off the top of my head, probably 4 hours labor repair time per side if it's just surface rust. Not including the R+I time. 3 hours per side for paint.

7 hours a side total.

14x$50 labor rate(<will be different depending in where you live)= $700

Maybe. That's a ROUGH estimate though, Without seeing it in person to see how extensive it is.
