I just purchased the parts required to do this from Ford Dealer at $59.05 out the door. Can't wait to complete this mod! Love the step, but hate the pole!

I love my step, and I know some guys like the pole, but for me the removal mod was awesome. After Line-X the tailgate is just that much more usable.

I also did this mod a few weeks ago. My only problem was that most of the 8 bolts to hold the plate down would not tighten snugly, just kind of loose. Is there any fix for this?

It's only the pole guys are removing. Step is part of the tailgate assembly. Big bucks. If you knew that already, sorry.
