Default Remote starter pricing

I went on Ford accessories web site looking at remote starters and it has you choose your local dealer for pricing. I pick the Bi-directional plug and play and it shows a price of $298.57 and $44.50 to install for a total of $ 343.07. http://accessories.ford.com/remote-s...ug-n-play.html So I talk to my sales man and he tells me the price will be $546. When I question the price on the website via email he responds via email the following:

Thanks for the links. That is news to me. The install for a remote start is a lot more than $44.50. By our labor rates 94 an hour I believe, that's a little more than 1/2 an hour to install. It takes longer than that sadly. I'm gonna use these links & show them to my boss & the parts & service manager. I know we didn't put the labor on there as we don't even do the install. We have the Ford Accessory company who has the contract install them. We do so as if there are issues, they can solve them faster.
Definitely give me a call on Monday & we can get the numbers straightened out. Have a great weekend. Talk to you then.

My question is has anyone else ran into this? Also I clicked on other dealer it was the same prices. To me if this is what is on Fords web site they should honor it. You can pay online. If I did that and showed them the bill would they have to honor it? Sorry for the long post.

Now that is funny. I did the one way as I just wanted a single key fob. Installation is very simple whether it is one way or two way. The dealer has to program it, but a good technician should have it done in about 15 minutes.

I think you can buy the kit from Tasca for less than $300, the dealer should program it for less than $100.

My dealer got upset- told me I now had a remote starter with no warranty. But I saved a bunch of bucks since he also quoted $500 for the one way system.

I put one on my old truck. Don't pay them to put it on. It's plug and play there is a spot it plugs into behind the glovebox. Then it comes with keys. Go have them cut at a hardware store or somewhere that does automotive key cutting. Then take it to ford they plug in the truck go into settings on the computer and enable the remote start. I watched the guy do it in about 5 min. Sad they charge $100. I know some people who said they got it done for free it was so cheap. I knew a guy that works at ford so I got mine done for free. But tell them they just need it program it you already installed the part and maybe that will reduce the price. Good luck

Other shops will also charge you anywhere from $300-$600. And they will usually only install a brand they offer. So this is pretty common and the work takes a while from everywhere that I have read.

Tousley Ford in White Bear Lake has an awesome parts dept and is way cheaper than my local dealer and the Ford site. They sell the 200 series for $265. The install is so easy guys.

Do you have a picture of the key fob, do you use your current fob or new one? Did you install it yourself?

I just ordered it on Thursday. It will be here tomorrow. I will have the factory key with the door lock, unlock and then a separate fob for the 200 series remote start. It is a 2 way and will tell you the vehicle started with a audible beep and LED flash.
