Pros and Cons 5.0 or 4.6 motor

I had a 10 with a 3v 4.6 and now I have a 12 with a 5.0.
I felt that the 4.6 was sluggish especially towards the top end of the RPMs. I would not buy again.
So far I've been very impressed with the 5.0. Very responsive and good power throughout the rpm range.

I would personally ignore the 4.6 and compare the 5.4 to the 5.0 and go from there.

You wouldn't go wrong with either.

I sort have had a different experience. I had a 2004 with a 5.4 in it and I loved it. When I bought my new 2010 the salesmen said it was a 4.6 3V. I looked at him like WTF are you showing me this for you know me and how I use my truck. He stuck to his guns and said I would be happy with it. I have had it 3 years now and could not be happier. I have towed a small Bob cat a small track loader hauled 3400 pounds of dirt in the bed (I have a scale slip to prove it) and have had all the power I needed to do any of the jobs I have asked of it. I am heading from Ohio to WA state next year in it to bring back my 68 Mustang and I will be towing it. 56000 + miles on it so far.

im looking for the motor that will produce decent horsepower from doing some mods. i wont be towing with it. but ive found some real nice 5.4 trucks. think itd be worth to consider a 5.4 over a 5.0?
