Programming add on OEM keypad
I struggled to find this info on here with a few searches so I decided to start a thread for this specific issue.
I have a recently purchased 2011 XLT SCrew that did not have the factory keypad on the handle but did have keyless entry on my key fob.
I was going to pass on this truck at purchase because the truck did not have the keypad entry system. The salesman looked online and showed me I could purchase the OEM stick on keypad online for $75 plus shipping and that would solve my problem.
Long story short I received the keypad today and the instructions do not tell you how to program it to your truck. I searched the owners manual and did not see it there either.
After reading the forums for an hour or so and getting lots of mixed opinions I called the dealer to have them program the new keypad.
To my surprise the service writer Mike at Paso Robles Ford proceeded to walk me through the process and it was easy, so here we go.
1st this is easier if you have not yet stuck the keypad onto the door yet but not a real issue if you have.
Sit in truck and close door, cycle key ON/OFF 8 times stopping in the ON position and the locks will cycle, press any button on key fob, locks will cycle, push in code that came with new keypad and locks will cycle.
It is now ready for you to put in your own custom code using the process in the instructions or you can just use the code that is installed already.
Super easy and no need to go to dealer.
A BIG thanks to Mike in service at Paso Robles Ford 800-532-1826

I'm curious, you say you bought a stick on keypad? I wonder if this programming process works for the factory handle with the pad made into it? I have been wanting to add this to my truck, just wasn't looking forward to the $100 charge for the dealer to activate it.
No it's not the same. It depends on the year of trk you have. But for I think its year 11 or 12 and up you will have to have the keypad activated in the computer (BCM). The wiring harness should almost for sure be in the driver door so that part is an easy swap. I did it in about 15 min. The single hardest part is finding a dealer that will actually take the time to program it. As it happens I'm going to post a new thread tomorrow on the steps involved to add keyless and auto headlights and everything needed etc. I'm just too tired to finish it right now. So check back in the morning for it.
My truck is a 2011 XLT and I bought the Ford stick on keypad. It is wireless so no removing door panel.
you must have a key with the buttons to unlock the door.
Programming was just as described above. No dealer visit required.
I do not know if this is different with the keypad built into the handle but someone can try this method at no cost so why not try.
