Trying to program a 3rd key for remote start.I have 2 keys that came with the truck, how do I know if there 2 original keys or if 1 is mirrored? The 3rd fob is for remote start that the original 2 fobs do not have. The remote start works just fine with the new 4 button fob after I programmed the fob but I can't get the key programmed? Is it possible the new key is not SA 80bit or I don't really have 2 original keys.So right now I can remote start the truck but have to use the original 3 button key to put in the ignition.
If he bought a factory Ford key and programmed it would that work as an original because it's Ford or is it considered a clone?
Has nothing to do with factory keys. If you want to program a key using the vehicle, you need two keys that are unique to the system. Many places copy a key's coding, which is called cloning, which means you have two keys that look identical to the system.
Anyone can buy the proper key and use FORScan to program unique keys. Or a dealer, or a locksmith with the proper equipment. Stores clone keys.

Is there anyway I can tell if I have 2 original keys or if 1 is just a clone? I do have access to IDS and will be doing that next.If I choose the option to ad another key in IDS will it program the 3rd key even if my 2nd key is a clone? Or do I just do an erase and reprogram all keys?

I think you're not comprehending what the meaning of "clone" is. A clone key is an exact copy of another key. So, if you have an original and a clone, to the vehicle you don't - you have one key. It cannot tell which key you insert.
So, if you use IDS, or FORScan, to program more keys, or to erase keys, there aren't two - there was only one to start.
Happy to hear an expert in IDS tell me I'm wrong, but don't think I am.
A way to find out what you have is to try any procedure that requires two UNIQUE keys, such as revealing your Ford code.
What I am wondering is,. If I have a cloned key, can i use IDS to program my 3rd key? I cannot program my new key using the 2 existing keys I have.
Is there any possibility the key I bought is not an 80 bit key??

With IDS all you have to do is go into the key programming section, wait for the 10 min security delay then erase all keys, once that's done you can then program each unique key. You will need a minimum of two keys using IDS. Once those two keys are program, since you're already connected you can program more at that time (8) max.
Also what Rick was saying is if you already have two keys uniquely programmed you don't need IDS or Forscan to program any more keys, all you would do then is stick the 1st unique key in and turn to run, wait 5 secs remove it and insert 2nd unique key, turn to run wait 5 secs then remove it and insert a new un-programmed key, turn to run, wait 5 secs, and etc up to a max of 8 keys.
Ok, sorry for making this so difficult. So let's say I have a cloned key, since I can't program my new 3rd key with the 2 existing keys that came with the vehicle.
Do I do a complete erase and reprogram? Or can I just use IDS to ad a new key,
