Default ProClip Mount

Just wondering if anyone has tried using this proclip mount:

http://www.proclipusa.com/brodit-veh...309-12960.aspx

After reading the directions it looks like it is supposed to slide into the seem on the dash, but after looking at the dash it looks like there isn't really a seem there. It appears to be all one piece.

Anyone have any insight?

Also, anyone know of a clean easy way to route a cable to that area from the second sync usb port?

Thanks in advance

I have that exact mount installed on my 09. i mounted my Garmin Nav to it. It is rock solid and provides a very clean looking mount. I would highly recommend. The only down side is the price.

Thanks for the recommendation, the price is the hard part right now. $60 for a phone mount is pretty steep.

Anyone know of an easy clean way to get a wire over there?

I just ran mine from the cigarette lighter under the dash on the drivers side, and up the door weatherstripping on the drivers side. This put my GPS power cable right where i need it without having an unsightly wire running across my dash. The only thing that you see is the plug into the lighter.

The proclip is the best mount I have been able to find. Here is a post with a photo of my Garmin GPS all mounted up.

I imagine it would not be too difficult to route a USB cable to there. That said, one of the things I don't like much about the SYNC connectivity is that it takes away all control of an ipod from the phone so I'm not sure what cleanly mounting it solves. I just put it in the cubby in front of the shift lever every time I get in to the truck, and take it out when I leave.

Nice garmin mount of yours.

Here are some shots of the Garmin nuvi 5000 behemoth I just installed with ProClip. I agree with you all, a great mount, pricey, but a great mount. Had to slice open a seam (there was none) between dash and vertical trim, but no problem. Switched wiring source will be done later. Thanks

Yes, but not on the others. If dash is same color as vertical panels, say brown stone or whatever they call it, vs silver vertical pane, it is one piece. I thought they all were two pieces and had seams too, until I wentt to install.

That is why ProClip page for the mount for the F-150 says Platinum only. I saw that, but ordered anyways because at time I ordered I thought there was a seam.

I'm confused about this. Do you have a cigarette lighter under your dash on the driver's side?
