Garmin GPS Instead of Coin Holder (Pics)
OK folks - Here's the results of my "Little Coin Holder Thingie" research (thanks to all who replied).
I yanked out the coin holder as suggested, did some simple modifications and mounted my Garmin Nuvi 205 in it's place! I am very happy with the result.
I apologize for the first few pictures, I thought they were more in focus.
I assume this would work for any year F150 that has this type of coin holder instead of the 4x4 switch.

- Coin holder removed and separated into two parts (front and back). I had to drill out the four plastic stubs on the back that were welded holding it together. With my Dremel Moto-Tool I cut down the remaining part of the back to make it flush for the mount.
- Disassembled the Garmin suction cup mount (pulled out the pin holding everything together). I only needed the ball mount for this.
- As I thought, it was a perfect match diameter-wise! Glued the coin holder base and the mount together - and viola!
- Note - I turned the mount little to the right to offset the Garmin to make it easier to see past the steering wheel. But not so much as to cause it to pop off if turned too far towards me!
I assume this would work for any year F150 that has this type of coin holder instead of the 4x4 switch.

Very good idea!
Do you find that the steering wheel still blocks any part of the GPS in the normal driving position or were you able to get it so that it is just right?
I've got min mounted on the left using a proclip. Until now I thought that that was the best mount I had seen :-)

I imagine it would block some of the screen if it was a wider version (like a 4.3" screen). But not much.

I was really confused by this. I have had mine for two weeks now and couldn't picture having a coin holder in this location. Then it clicked...I have a 4WD **** there.
Awesome job on the install though. It looks great there.

Yeah, you guys with your fancy four wheel drives! Have fun tweaking that ****!
But don't get lost!
And I hope you don't need any change out there! I don't know where you'd put it!
