how many miles on the truck?

it's just the diff cover gasket. if you're not due for your differential fluid change for a while just keep an eye on it. they replace that gasket when they replace the diff fluid but if the leak gets worse you may want to have them changed sooner.

Im gonna bring to dealer soon for oil change should i mention that at all or will they see it when they do there checks and wat not. How much will it cost for fluid change gasket ect. Ballpark range?

How often do you change diff fluid? I've never changed it, to be honest didnt know you had to. I have a 3.31 open diff if that is needed.

Any indication of fluid should be mentioned, I would say this is not a normal look. Ask and be safe, I would for sure.

honestly I wouldn't call it a leak, more of like seepage... you're not going to lose enough fluid to ever have it affect anything unless it gets a lot worse. they should see it when they do the multi-point inspection but it can be a good way to test and see if they're actually paying attention. if they don't bring it up when they go over the vehicle inspection sheet with you, ask them why they didn't notice it lol.

anyway it may or may not be covered under warranty, if I remember correctly only seals and gaskets that are on the engine/transmission are covered but I could be wrong. otherwise you'd have to ask what it costs, I just do the work I never deal with anything in the office so I don't know the cost of anything lol.

and lastly, Ford recommends changing the diff fluids at 100k intervals so they wouldn't have changed it during the pre-sale safety or anything.

Ford recommends every 100k. having an open diff will save you a couple bucks in parts since you won't need any friction modifier added into the fluid.

Take it a dealer if u only have that mileage it should be covered under warranty. If it isn't it is super easy to fix u can get the gasket and dig fluid and replace it and fill it till fluid comes out the fill plug

close but they don't actually make a gasket for the diff cover. you just use RTV. so you have to make sure you give the RTV some time to dry before you add the fluid otherwise you just wasted a lot of time and money.
