Default Please explain this to me....

My 2010 fx4 climate control blower motor stopped working. The dealer diagnosed it as the blower relay. There are, of course, none in stock.

Due to our temperatures, they rigged up a bypass with a 30A fuse so that I can have heat this week. The only downside to that is that the fan has to be on full blast when the climate system is turned on.

Total price: $185. The part itself is $63.

Isn't this just a large fuse? What am I missing here?

$185??? Shouldn't that be covered on the factory warranty?

Maybe he was out of warranty, and if he was, then there was a diagnostics charge, very tyipical and usually a flat fee/rate of $75-$100

Are you sure it isn't the resistor, that would be what controls the fan speeds and they do go, usually partially and you lose a couple speeds. By passing a bad resistor could leave you with only the high speed of the fan.

Last one I did in my '01 truck was a $12 part and a 10 minute job.
