Platinum impressions
I'm going to be looking to get a 2010 Platinum when I get back from Iraq. I hear that they are built with a unique sound deadening. Have any of you ever driven one and how quiet are they inside? I'm really interested in what other Platinum owners have to say about the truck overall??? I'm sure that whatever it sounds or feels like, it will be better then driving in the MRAP!

Yes, as a platinum owner myself I have seen the insulation in the doors and the hood and the sound inside is very quiet and no road noise. Makes the audio system sound much fuller. The platinum is a joy to drive!

I think my platinum is super quiet. The roof either doesnt have any sound deadening or very little from what I can tell when driving in a heavy rain or going through the car wash. Nothing that some dynamat cant fix and its probably the easiest place on the truck to put it.

I think the Platinum, just like most of the models, is a beautiful truck.
I realize that with each upgrade in truck model you benefit from additional features, both in function and comfort.
I must say however, that my '09 XLT is very quiet (for a truck or car) and very comfortable for my 6'-4" frame.
In fact, compared to my last truck, an '04 F250 XLT, it is like night and day in comparison of the sound deadening materials in the construction, and also noise reduction from the frame and body panels etc.
I give Ford and A+ in this regard, with the re-design of this vehicle.

Haha, the good 'ole MRAP. That is probably the only thing I miss about Iraq. It sure as hell beat the 1151's we had when we first rotated there. As far as your future Platinum is concerned, I am sure you will love it. I have an XLT and it is more quiet than my fiancee's Mercedes. I can't even imagine how quiet the Platinum would be... Anyway, safe travels and enjoy your 17 hour (That's how long it is to Ft. Campbell) flight back.

I'm really looking forward to getting in one and taking it for a drive soon before I leave. Actually the MRAP for the Army guys is a good vehicle overall and I much prefer the safety of it! 17 hours... just a bit more from Hood. 101st Hooah! With them in Afghanistan last year. Good group! If anyone has some pictures I would love to see them. The 2009 overhaul of the F150 has a great look.

Over the past several years my wife has owned:
1. Mercedes ML350
2. BMW 530i
3. Volvo XC-90 V8 Sport
My cars over the last few years include:
1. Volvo S60
2. BMW 3 Series Convertible
3. Porsche Boxster
The Ford Platinum is the most quiet vehicle we have owned. And my wife says it's her favorite vehicle we has ever owned.
For me, other than the Boxster (which I will never, ever sell), it's my favorite too!

My Ford Platinum is super-quite and a pleasure to drive. A few weeks ago I drove from St. Louis to Kansas City - a drive I really hated in my old GMC. The semis and the rough road made it a very unpleasant ride in so many ways. However, driving it in my Platinum made the drive very easy. The cab was really quite and the ride was about as smooth as one can expect from a truck. I got to KC and didn't feel all worn out like i use to.
