Payload
I am trying to figure out how come my buddies truck has a payload of 1393lbs but a gvwr of 7100 and my truck has a payload of 1282lbs and a gvwr of 7350.. does anyone know? i have asked this a couple times in other threads and no one would answer. i think because it didn't pertain to the thread. thanks for any light you can shed.
ah i see. this is what i am trying to learn.. anyhow i will tell you know i know about his and mine.
his 2011 fx4, 4 door, 5.5 bed, eco, 18" rims (i am pretty sure) don't know the gears
mine 2012 plat, 4 door, 5.5 bed, 5.0, 20" rims, 3.55's

gvwr=gross vehicle weight rating.
like i said, im not very familiar with the new trucks but with that lil dif in payload it could be anything. hell it could be the engine. ill let someone else chime in here since like i said, im not very familiar with these new rigs.

The reason is that the OP's truck is heavier than his friends truck, somehow, by 361 lbs.

Ur rims weigh more than his. The 5.0 is a tad heavier than the eco. Some other parts on the platinum may weigh more than the fx4. For example, the windows on the platinum may be thicker, that's why the platinum has a quieter ride than the other trucks. I'm sure the other extra sound deadening materials add weight to it. I'm not sure if ur platinum has the retractable sunning boards or not, but of u do, add that to the difference also. There's a lot of little stiff that goes into the platinum that add extra weight. It may not sound like much individually, but it all adds up in the total weight
