Default Paranoid

I admit that I feel a bit goofy posting this and I should know better but since I am writing this I obviously am looking for someone to pat me on the head and say that it's going to be OK.
What the hell am I talking about ?
I am a 63 year old new Ford F150 XLT owner. Came from owning a long line of Toyota trucks. I went to the Ford dealership as I was attracted by the discounts. I tried the Ford F150 XLT and it was love at first sight. Bought the 2014 XLT for 10 K below MSRP, I have owned it for one month and 500 miles now. I immediately jointed this forum and have gotten some great information BUT this forum also scares the hell out of me. Now I am waiting for my new truck to have all kinds of issues - noise, broken windows, rattles, you name it. I see mostly bad news on this forum and it bugs me. Common sense says that the majority of these trucks are rock solid but the more I read the worse my paranoia settles in. Someone just say it's going to be OK, that my truck will roll thousands of miles with good maintenance.

Don't worry about a thing, people only really post if they have a problem. Not many I have seen a few but not many post just to say they love their trucks.

Most of the non-fanboy posts on here are from people who have issues with the trucks. We are a small subset of the number of F-series sales every year.

Forums are all doom and gloom. Go read the Toyota forums and you will experience the same thing. People use these forums as a place to find solutions to problems, not often to post how well their truck is doing.

I am in the same boat as you are, my truck is about 10 days old and so far so good. I think Ford has really stepped up their game in the last few years and that is one of the reasons that I bought one. The Forum here is a valuable asset to be able to go to if you have problems or simply questions. Enjoy your new truck, I am enjoying mine!!!

Unfortunately your truck is doomed. You should immediately drop it off at my house, and I will attempt to salvage it.

ALL forums, whether they be truck forums, hobby forums, travel forms, etc. are utilized by people that aren't shy to express their opinions (except for the lurkers that never register or post). As such, the negative posts ALWAYS outweigh the positive posts.

Think of it this way - how often do you go out of your way to tell a person or company of your GREAT experience? You complain about cold food at the restaurant, but do you seek out the manager and say how great your waiter or waitress was (simply write it on the credit card receipt)? Do you ever fill out online surveys or reviews of products / services when you're delighted?

The answer for most (meaning like 95%) of the population is no. They only complain, they never praise.

Enjoy your new truck, or for peace of mind I will.

Thank you for the replies. I really enjoy driving a full sized truck. I went with the F150 because of the incentives, the looks of the truck, the way they are made and the legend of the truck. I want to enjoy this for many miles and years. Again, Thanks for the many pats on the head and letting me know I need to chill out and enjoy. Jack
