No one will install level kit
I have a 1.5in AS front leveling kit waiting to be installed. I called most of the local shops in my area (Ford dealer, Pep Boys, NTB, etc) and every place said they do not do this kind of installation. It looks like I will be installing this myself with the help of my neighbor. My neighbor is pretty mechanically inclined so I'm not too worried. I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips with this installation or has had any unforseen issues? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks guys. That definately slipped my mind. I have a few local mechanics in mind that I should have called first. I'm sure they will do a good job. Plus thats less work for me lol.
The installation of a spacer kit for leveling is simple in terms of what has to be done. The real trick is having the tools to do it, and just being careful when taking things apart and putting them back together.
You're going to need (and want) pneumatic tools for all the nuts/bolts, but will also need some smaller tools for attaching the spacers. A set of pinch-pushers (what I call them) to get the joints apart between the control arms and the sway bar, tie rods and steering knuckle will help so that you dont have to bang on them with a hammer.
Assuming you have the electronic power steering, be SURE you disconnect the negative battery terminal cable before starting any work. Be careful of your brake lines and other other lines going to the wheel hubs ... don't wanna over-extend them.

Look at any local 4x4 shops as that is what they specialize in and have mechanics that do this often. Any reputable place will also align your truck after the install (absolute necessity with a level).

It has been awhile since I installed my Bilstein 5100s, and someone please correct me if I am wrong, but if I remember correctly it states in the manual (or maybe my Chilton's manual) to disconnect the neg. battery terminal if you're going to do any work on, or use pneumatic tools on, some of the front suspension parts as it may cause error codes with some of the sensors if not disconnected. I vaguely remember reading somewhere about the ball joints too, but since I unbolted and lowered the LCAs to install the 5100s, I didn't pay particular attention to this. If you didn't get any error codes since the work was done, then I wouldn't be too concerned.
