Ye of little faith.......
So - I was late in doing my update on my 2012 and only did it recently. But the issue I am having is that the the update has caused an issue with any voice command.
The Voice button the the steering wheel only tries to engage the phone - attempts to redial. If I unpair the phone - I get the message that no phone is connected. Have been through Factory Reset, Master Reset and took it into the dealership. They claimed it was the button and replaced the module - still doesn't work. Now they say it is the clock spring (have no clue as to WTF that is). Looked it up on youtube - can't imagine it is really a part in the steering wheel assembly - considering it happen directly after the update. Spoke the with Tech Team on the phone and they (David and Michelle) verified that the update does reflect 4.4 on their systems and suggested that I take it to the dealership for a 'Hard Reset' - expressed that I had and updated them on the whole fiasco.
Now I am waiting for the dealer to call me when the 'clock spring' comes in. I have no faith that this will fix the problem and am looking for some guidance form the FordIVTteam - help me please. It really is a pain in the *** not having the voice features - not to mention a bit of a driving hazard when attempting to use the phone, navigation, etc......

So I am man enough to admit when I am wrong, and in this case I had no faith that replacing a clock spring in the steering column would address the issues that suddenly came up after completing the update to 4.4.
Took the truck to the dealer on Friday and after 4 hours it was returned to me with a fully functional Sync system. I will say that I did apologize to my service adviser (whom I have had complete faith in until my doubts on what I thought was a snipe hunt led by the technicians) as she promised that this would address the issue.
So after two days I can tell you that all the features appear to be working properly. I do need to retrain my voice profile - but this is a minor inconvenience that I will happily complete. Truly didn't realize how much I had become dependent on the Sync features until they were not available to me.
Haven't noticed or realized any of the benefits from the upgrade - but I don't often use Bluetooth playback or Sync apps. I will say that I didn't loose my Jukebox recordings which would have upset me as I would have to had to rerecord a tremendous amount of CD's.
I have learned to always trust my adviser as she has shown she has my best interest and has proven that she is worthy of my loyalty (as is Ford).
Hope the rest of you with issues get them resolved as well.

So I wouldn't say 4.4 is all doom and gloom, most people who have a problem come to the forum, and those who it makes a big difference in a good way also come and post. For me, my system would occasionally crash and the only way to reset was to completely reboot it by turning the truck off and opening the door, after the update it crashes after about a minute and a half if I immediately jump into phone or USB, however it will reboot the system and be fine after that, or if I wait a minute or two before using any of the sync features it also works fine with no crashing. For me the update gave me what I needed, which was the ability of my system to reboot itself. Apps come and go as do other things like message support, but that is more phone software related I believe. In the end if your system works fine for you right now, I wouldn't mess with it, if you currently have issues, I'd say try updating, just follow the directions very carefully as the installation time can be lengthy.

I should have read this before I updated my sync.

So I thought an update would be appropriate. In the last 2 weeks since they have fixed the issue with my SYNC not working I have begun the experience the same issues that others have complained about. The most annoying of which is the inability at time to use Bluetooth connecting to my phone for making calls. Really is very annoying as you need to pull over, stop the truck, shut off the engine, pull out the keys and open the door, wait 30 seconds and then hope the it doesn't happen again.
Although I am happy to have back my voice interface with SYNC - I would really be happy if I had never performed the update.
Word to the wise - and you know the adage:
IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!
For Ford's sake - the issues I have experienced have impacted my Wife's decision on replacing her 07 Grand Cherokee. We looked at the loaded Edge and she saw the SYNC, asked if it was the same as mine. I think it had an impact as the Edge is not in the top 3 anymore..... I am still loyal - but don't see the wife jumping on the bandwagon anytime soon. At least not for the new vehicle this time around. Pity.

We're currently working on a new update to correct these issues. Stay tuned.
