First let me say your fabrication and install is fantastic. Probably some of the best I've seen.

But now I have to say good luck with heat issues. I went down this road before. Battery/heat issues (related imo) were a deal breaker on a Galaxy Nexus tablet.
  • A hot battery doesn't charge. This means your ipad will be dead when you get in all summer
  • Heat destroys batteries over time. My tablet battery was shot in less than a summer's worth of heat.
  • My tablet battery is so shot now that it can't even maintain charge with the screen on. It practically has to be off in order to charge.

Now, I was using a different piece of hardware so hopefully you won't suffer the same fate as me. I think your only charging while the vehicle is on? Smart move. I also destroyed a car battery in the first summer of testing this. You don't want to come out to a dead car 3-4+ times a month.

I really hope it works out for OP and I'd love to hear an update in October on the topic. Probably the only thing keeping me from trying again.

Guessing also since I have that crappy mt ford touch I'm really screwed if I wanna iPad install.
Bullets is correct, my backup camera is displayed in my mirror.

Myford touch guys are still able to do this mod but would need to do a float mount or little ears that hold the pad in front of the display. It would need to be easily removable so you can still access all of the trucks other functions. They sell a wifi camera transmitter that you can tap into the trucks stock camera signal. Open the app and there you go. I'm looking for one that automatically opens the app when in reverse, if anyone knows of a transmitter that does just that let me know.

Thanks for the heads up. I will be using my sunshades and remote start every time to try and help.

I'm in south Florida so I'll need to try everything possible.

Badass install for sure. Makes me second guess doing a boring double din.

I am very very critical when it comes to modifications, it has to look like it could have been OEM, I hate things that are hacked together.

That said, you did an amazing job and I'm regretting dumping all the money I did for MFT and Nav a little bit right now.
