Your new truck is my favorite color. I'm glad that you're okay.

I'm at home and in some pain but these trucks are pretty amazing. One of the officers said "if you'd been in a small car you'd be on a stretcher right now." I've been checked out a few times with the doc and she's helping me with those issues, but I'm really worried about what happens with the truck. It took me a long time to find this truck (max tow FTW!) and I put a sizeable amount of $$ down.... I have a feeling I'm either going to get a basket case "repaired" truck with a huge diminished value and forever problems, or they're going to total it and I'll be out several thousand dollars. I can't decide which is worse. But hey, no one was with me, especially my little kids!

And turn on 911 assist if you haven't already. Before I could even get my bearings there was a 911 operator speaking to me through the truck. I couldn't even find my phone in the mix of work bag/lunch bag/stuff/GLASS EVERYWHERE debris and to talk to them via the handset so just had the whole conversation via bluetooth.

"Initial" repair estimate is ~$20k. The pictures don't really show the damage well I think. The whole interior floorboard is curved upward, and several panels inside just flew off. Note the angle of the front wheel too.

Very similar type accident 3 yrs back but with a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. broadsided 50mph by a vehicle that ran a stop sign.

Other party's Insurance Company insisted on repairing the vehicle. We mentioned right up front we planned on filing a Diminished Value Claim if the vehicle was repaired. Don't think they took us seriously. Vehicle was repaired (in the shop for 3 months) and returned to us. Vehicle appeared to have been expertly repaired, (no leaks, squeaks, handling issues) but we still knew that somewhere down the line when it came time to trade in we would take a financial beating because of DV.

Long story short they fought us tooth and nail for almost a year but finally capitulated and gave us a fair DV settlement. They would have saved themselves a lot of time and money by just totaling the vehicle immedeately after the accident.

Beware of Insurance Company trying to "wear you down". On the other hand, if a reasonable settlement is offered, take it and just move on.

Fortunate there were no injuries

Your truck will probably be totaled, frame/cowl/floor damage(former body shop owner and insurance adjuster) . Just fyi ,we do Diminished Value reports if they don't!! (expertappraisalgroup.com)

Truck was all taken care of, primarily by my insurance via Uninsured Motorist which also includes "under insured". Still dealing with some muscle related mid-back pain occasionally and my lawyer is starting the settlement discussion. You have two years to make a claim after an accident and I was advised to wait.

The really messed up part is I learned through seeing a chiro and medical insurance physical therapist what I needed to do to exercise/stretch the problem areas, so I I stopped seeing them and did it on my own. Both were a huge waste of my time after learning I could do them myself. But now that supposedly looks bad because I stopped going. Which I was never advised of. Kind of BS that I need to keep wasting my time to get more money... So the settlement will cover my medical and maybe a small amount of $$ for my time. Not happy with my lawyer at the moment...
"Typically" you'll see a a Chiro for minimum 3 months, obviously this depends on the severity of your injuries. If you picked a good Chiro they should have had some form of PT onsite. They should have also had you fill out a form relating to the accident and what you're able to do, not able to do and taken some measurements of how far you can bend/twist your back and neck. You re-do those measurements once finished.

I didn't read the time stamps on this thread, but maybe it's not too late to go back to the Chiro? Not just for the settlement, but for your health as well. You might feel fine now....but....pain can creep back in.

Keep track of your mileage, time spent driving to and from and time at the office. Keep track of days missed from work and get a superior to sign off once it's all said and done.

Glad you're alright!
