Default Mudflaps (aka splash guards)

Just bought an '11 screw XLT and am looking to add mudflaps. The Ford mudflaps, are they rubber or plastic? Also, for those that have mudflaps, did you get plastic ones or rubber ones and why?

I've been checking out a lot of the pics and noticed that it seems most don't have them on their trucks. I find that curious as I would think they would help protect the paint and make it easier to clean.

I have the OEM Ford ones on mine. They are plastic. It was a very easy install. I run them because I snowmobile a lot and drive in nasty weather! I figure it helps some to keep all the crap off the truck.

I like rubber ones and plan on buying them in the near future. Canadian Tire has rubber ones with nice big blue ford ovals for $35.00 a pair.

Anyone have pics of the OEM flaps?

Bit tired of the truck spraying junk on my shiney exhaust pipe.

I went with the Weather Tech, they were very easy to install and look great.

Went to the dealer and bought OEM.
Plastic.
Good price.
No drill.
Easy install.
Black truck still gets dirty 2 miles after washing.

They may be a bit hard to see in this pic but I have the Ford plastic ones on mine. They protect the chrome tail pipe a bit but you will find that the junk still gets on there.
