It's really not that simple at all. The window sticker numbers are determined under specific testing conditions that may or may not be representative of your individual truck and driving conditions. The window sticker is an estimate, not a statement of what fuel mileage that truck will get when you buy it.

In addition to that, there are plenty of things you can change to improve fuel mileage, so your claim that changing anything will reduce mileage is just silly.

For what it's worth, I'm averaging 13.9 MPG, mostly highway. Not too bad for 6.2L though....

Greg, do you use cruise control? I found my gas mileage will vary greatly if I don't use cruise. Keeping consistent speeds really helps when you considering overall gas mileage. For me, I set cruise at 65mph and get anywhere from 19-20mpg depending on the terrain I'm driving.

Still not getting great MPG. 13.9 MPG over last 700 miles. 70% city, 30% high way. I have been driving this last tank and a half VERY easy. RPMs are rarely over 2200.

2012 FX4 screw ecoboost. No mods. 4,8xx miles.

I too live in San Antonio too, well just outside up I-10, where it's good and hilly and the roads wind around a bit.

Currently all stock 2012 4x4 SCrew with 3.55's on 17 inch Michelin ATs.

Here's my mileage report to date:

1st tank - 87 Octane - 17 MPGs - Tank provided by dealer
2nd tank - 87 Octane - 18.8 MPGs - All HWY to the coast and back in strong winds, lots of hills
3rd tank - 87 Octane - 17.2 MPGs - All city to work and back
4th tank - 93 Octane - 20.1 MPGs - All city to work and back
5th tank - E85 Corn - 13.0 MPGs - Gone a little over 1/2 tank with this

This truck runs great and strong on 87. Gets good mileage, especially on the highway, and good power.

On 93 Octane, there is a slight increase in power and throttle respone, not huge, but noticeable. Huge increase in MPGs!!!
  • 8.5% increase in cost ($3.80 versus $3.50 for 87 Octane)
  • 17.5% increase in MPGs
  • 9% Net savings by using 93 Octane
On E85, this engine wakes up. Good lord, there is a huge increase in power and throttle repsonse is awesome, plus this truck just growls on E85 when you give it some throttle. Under WOT, it feels like an entirely different truck!!!

Mileage way down, but power way up on ethanol. I figure without flooring it (which is hard to do with the added power on tap) it would likely get around 15. I haven't done a timed 0-60 run, but it will certainly be a quicker time. I have also been playing in the mud some, which kills the mileage, but hey, that's part of why I have a truck.

Just wish I could find more mud on this end of town....

BS on the 17% increase in mpg due to premium. I suggest you run multiple tanks and report back. I would be surprised if u see any difference. I have towed in over 100 degrees and ran premium for both towing and unloaded and saw no difference

Guess this isn't the place to say 29+ driving at 65. 24+ at 70.

But then it's a FX2 w/ EB with 3.55.
