Jonbar, you have the exact tires and wheels I plan to put on my truck after I level it.

I too live in San Antonio too, well just outside up I-10, where it's good and hilly and the roads wind around a bit.

Currently all stock 2012 4x4 SCrew with 3.55's on 17 inch Michelin ATs.

Here's my mileage report to date:

1st tank - 87 Octane - 17 MPGs - Tank provided by dealer
2nd tank - 87 Octane - 18.8 MPGs - All HWY to the coast and back in strong winds, lots of hills
3rd tank - 87 Octane - 17.2 MPGs - All city to work and back
4th tank - 93 Octane - 20.1 MPGs - All city to work and back
5th tank - E85 Corn - 13.0 MPGs - Gone a little over 1/2 tank with this

This truck runs great and strong on 87. Gets good mileage, especially on the highway, and good power.

On 93 Octane, there is a slight increase in power and throttle respone, not huge, but noticeable. Huge increase in MPGs!!!
  • 8.5% increase in cost ($3.80 versus $3.50 for 87 Octane)
  • 17.5% increase in MPGs
  • 9% Net savings by using 93 Octane
On E85, this engine wakes up. Good lord, there is a huge increase in power and throttle repsonse is awesome, plus this truck just growls on E85 when you give it some throttle. Under WOT, it feels like an entirely different truck!!!

Mileage way down, but power way up on ethanol. I figure without flooring it (which is hard to do with the added power on tap) it would likely get around 15. I haven't done a timed 0-60 run, but it will certainly be a quicker time. I have also been playing in the mud some, which kills the mileage, but hey, that's part of why I have a truck.

Just wish I could find more mud on this end of town....

I'm in Dallas, we have E10 or 10% ethanol crap gas.

Regardless I'm getting great gas mileage in both my F150's

My driving is all most all stop and go short trips with lots of stop signs, I would say 80% under 45 mph.

2012 F150 XLT Screw 3.15 gears 4x2 5.0 Average 18 mpg
2012 F150 FX2 Screw 3.55 gears 4x2 Eco Average 21 mpg

versus my old truck
2005 Nissan Titan Screw 3.36 gears 4x2 5.6 Avg 11 mpg

IMHO, the Eco is not rated much better than the 5.0 in fuel economy, but I think
if you drive it with fuel economy in mind, it has a lot more potential to beat the EPA ratings than the 5.0 does.

Oh man another MPG thread. Here's the deal. Your truck gets what the window sticker says when you buy it. If you change anything it gets less. Really that simple.

I have an 09 KR with the 5.4 3.55 4x4 and I get 15 mpg. Must be the leather int and the KR badges that cut the mpg...

I wasn't trying to make it a complaining thread! Just saying I'm happy with it and yes it does get the window sticker mpg

Using a calculator I got 20.5 on a 300 mile holding it at 75. Filled up, headed back and filled up using the same pump as when I left and got 21.6. Most highway trips are 19-20 average. Checked it in town just once when I was flogging it fairly often and got 9.

2010 4.6 3v
