Default more fun with sync (warning to Iphone users)

using my iphone 5 recently when I try to call someone using a voice command itll say "calling dot" and call the first person in my contacts list. My gf insisted on installing an app called emoti (i think thats the name) that gives you a bunch of smiley faces and crap...turns out that was a really bad thing and the once it starts screwing up like this it requires a reflash of the api and some other crap. Bulletin 22531 and was effective 10/5/12.

Ive erased the app, made sure my contacts list had all that stuff out of it, master reset sync to re-pair the phone and download contacts again and still doing the same crap. I guess theyll be adding this to the list to fix when it goes in this week

Agreed. Emoji apps do not mess with sync.

Do a full restore of your iphone to iOS6, and set up from new instead of from a backup. Then resync. You should have no problems.

Just realized I didn't state the whole problem correctly, the problem occurs when emoji icons are placed in the name of a contact. My fiancé put a diamond ring icon that would appear between her first and last name, that is supposedly what triggered it according to the bulletin from ford

What's sad in all of this, and this is by no means a hack on the OP as its a legitimate concern for sure, is that a car manufacturer has to release a fix for smiley faces.

I'm turning in my human card.

ya its pretty out of control

worst part is I didnt even want the damn app but she was playing with my phone and next thing I know...

to add insult to injury doing the master reset and everything, Sync has once again decided that voice control is not available with my Ipod.

Its fitting that Sync has a woman's voice, that bitch goes out of her mind about once a month in my experience
