Also how does the front diff operate? If I have it in 4 wheel high or low with the traction contol off will both tires spin or is it like an open diff too?

It works exactly the same. You can leave 4 lines, if you're able to drift the trail end out a bit. Just don't drift it too far, or your rear end will come around really fast on you!

I love doing this on the beach in the sand, loads of fun, but you can do it on pavement too, just know that your wheels will hook up if the pavement is dry,.so only do this on qwerty pavement. You can really mess up your 4wd system playing on dry pavement.

I thought it would lock the two together or be pretty close to it. I just didn't want just one of the wheels to spin like the all wheel drives do. You have more power off the line to do that, with the ecoboost it's a little trickier and I have to stay in the boost for it to keep the wheels spinning. I don't have the ***** to try to drive the truck on dry pavement but in the snow it's pretty fun.

I dont understand how I had a 2wd with an open diff for so many years and never had this problem unless I was doing it on purpose. Sounds like if you are easier on the go peddle it would save you money on a LSD, tires, and gas. Win win win but thats just me.

To you all who are talking about it cutting power, you need to push the trac control button to really feel the ABS working the single wheel spin traction control w/o it cutting power first.

Everyone is entitled to spend their money how they would like and that is cool with me, I am just offering the point that this seems to be easily fixed or avoided without spending money.

I'm guessing you don't have too much traffic around you and sometime you need to get off the line fast but it doesn't happen with the open diff and the stupid traction control. No matter if you push the traction control or hold it down to turn it off it still comes on in 2 wheel drive.

I drive into San Antonio daily. Heavy traffic, and I drive with a lead foot by nature. The first thing I do is turn off Advancetrac when I get in my truck, unless the weather is inclement (this is where the software has saved my butt before).

Never have one wheel peel issues, ever. Out where I live, we have two way access roads still, and you have to yield to traffic coming across your lane to the highway (stupidest law ever), and you have to basically floor it everytime, everyday to get passed the oncoming traffic crossing your lane. I lay rubber 11s everyday there across the entire intersection just to do it! Love hearing both tires chirping when shifting into second after catching traction in first. There is no throttle blip.

If you are getting throttle blips after turning off Advancetrac,.some sensor isn't working right. Take it to the dealer.

Love driving this truck!

Unless yours is messed up it will not cut engine power after holding down the TC button. There is a nice chart in the manual on pages 230-231 under stability control that describe what is on and off after pushing or holding the button. I have driven in heavy traffic aplenty, and while I have broken it loose many times they could have all been with patients.

BUT I am with you. I feel like goddamn Rick Bobby in my truck and I wanna go fast! If your TCS is working correctly it will put ABS to the wheel that is spinning and essentially to the same work as a LSD. I dont usually need to use my locker when I off road because this systems works pretty good.

According to the chart in the manual, to disable all TC systems except single wheel spin traction control (Which is always enabled btw), press button and hold for more than 5 seconds at vehicle speed under 35 mph.

Might be worth giving it a another shot before dropping the money to replace working components.

Yeah, the manual says press and hold five seconds. Your display says Traction Control Off. It still blips the throttle above 35 mph.

If you press and hold for ten seconds without releasing, the display says Advancetrac Off (not listed in the manual), and the throttle won't blip, even when punching it at 40 and getting a little sideways.

idk, without the locker engaged, if i am in 2wd and have advancetrac of, i leave a parking lot in a hurry and punch it, only the inside tire lights up. sorry, thats just how it is. I can film it using my suction cup and gopro even.

Maybe it doesnt brake as aggressively on the spinning wheel when you are turning because it would have the tendency to push you forward instead of into your turn. Like I said, I have only had experience with this system while off road so when I get one wheel in mud I am just pointing straight ahead.
